Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family often relied on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran states her father was drunk who was rude to her mother and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after having failed several classes during her freshman years.
